My involvement in pure bred dogs began when Jim and I rescued an Irish Wolfhound in 1972. With her I got involved in obedience and then into the breed ring. I quickly became enamored with the Whippet breed and, in 1977, I brought home Sirhan Sirrocco, bred by Audrey Benbow.
Since then I have been involved in many different areas in the sport of dogs. It didn’t take me long to fall in love with the functionality of our breed and for many years I showed my dogs and they competed in ASFA and AKC field trials. Jim and I were two of the four founding members of Am Can Border Runners Association, a lure coursing club in Vermont in the 1980’s. I was also very active in my local kennel club and organized AWC supported entries at our local all breed show for several years. I also had the honor of being the Show Chair for the 1996 AWC National Specialty in Burlington, VT.
When I became involved in racing, it became one of my favorite sports. In October of 1997 Jim and I took part in the first meeting of the New England Whippet Club. Agility became another favorite of mine and I have competed in AKC, NADAC and USDAA trials.
I have made many wonderful friends over the years and I have been privileged to share my life with wonderful dogs.
I am truly honored to be invited to judge the 2008 WRA & NOTRA National conformation Match.
